|Takens - Hepler Wedding|
Almost a year ago we moved into our home. We were married in February, moved in the day before Halloween that same year. If felt almost right that I should be spending the day celebrating the marriage of some very dear friends of ours. It was a classic wedding, yet not classic at all! It had a Victorian theme, with a family picnic appeal! The bride was beautiful! Even my best friend was the Maid of Honor! Not to mention her spouse and my other best friend, who was the Best Man! The ceremony was romantic. The day was beautiful, the sun was shinning and a cool breeze made the temperature perfect for an outdoor occasion. The bride walked down the isle to Stevie Nicks. I surely needed the handkerchief provided upon entry for my tears of happiness! The vows even included a pledge to "give her heart if he were ever a Zombie."!
After the ceremony guest were escorted to a large white tent decked to full vintage splendor! Seat assignments were arranged in old suitcases on tables. Each couple/persons table number was located on a paper doll dressed from the period. Large center pieces graced the round linen covered tables. Dinner was served on individually unique vintage plates. Pink Lemonade and Iced Tea were the beverages of choice served in mason jar glasses and paper straws. Organza pom poms hung from the ceiling and gave a hint of fabulous to the plume decorated centerpieces. Each table had a stack of antique books with lace doilies and a small bottle with your table number. Once seated you felt right at home. The celebration was joyful as guests feasted on pastries galore and a decadent buffet. Champagne was had and dancing began. People mingled while waiting in line for a portrait by an artist friend or waiting to take a photo with a Victorian backdrop and silly props!
The thank you gifts were a glass ornament made by the groom. Such personal touches as these made the whole wedding magical. Love like this is timeless...
